The Mocking Spirit vs The Holy Spirit

satan_tempting_jesus_5“But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.” – Jude 1:17-18

The devil loves to mock God, therefor is it any surprise that those who are led by him would do the same? No, of course not. This mocking spirit that exist in the sinner, rather they sit in the world or in the church, is nothing new. For Christ Himself was mocked, despised, and rejected. Is the servant therefore, any better then the master?

“Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.” – Mark 15:31

There are few outward manifestations a man can express of the inward pride of the spirit he carries then to mock others. How much more so to mock God, His will, or His anointed ones? Likewise, there are few greater outward expressions of the inward humility and faith carried in the Spirit of those that bare the mocking in peace and love. For they know inwardly that the Lord is their validater and vindicater, and though the foolish may mock for a season, they will be humbled in due time by the revealing of their lowliness by the mighty hand of God Himself, for God will not be mocked.

“And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.” – Mark 10:34

“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” – Romans 8:17-18

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” – Acts 2:36-38

The truth of the matter is that those who mock have not the Holy Spirit of God though many of them believe that they do. Many have a demonic counterfeit of it, some deny it all together, but all are deceived. Christ and the apostles alike were mocked by both those of the world and of the religious establishments (who were one in the same spiritually, for sin opens the soul to Satan and drives the prideful heart to mock), yet they endured with humble faith having the Spirit of God within them to assure them that He Himself would validate them in due time and humble the prideful unto repentance. For they knew that those who mocked had not the Holy Spirit of God within them, but the spirit of error. So how could they not act in error when being led by the very spirit thereof, even the father of lies himself?

“We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” – 1 John 4:6-8

Therefor, when mockers rise up against you have patience with them for they are gravely deceived. Instead be broken for them for they are damned in their current state and are in need of repentance. Moreover, be loving toward them for when you show forth the love, humility, patience, and compassion of the true Spirit of God, you allow for God to then validate you Himself and move on your behalf exposing the awesome power of the favor of His Holy Spirit, as well as their lack of it, and need for it. God alone is the defender of the righteous, and when the unrighteous see this they cease to bend the knee in mockery, and moved by the fear of the Lord and the compassion of the Saints, bend it in humility to the deity, sovereignty, and majesty of our mighty God and King.

“But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.” – Jude 1:17-23
