Take a Stand: There’s More at Play than You’re Seeing

“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” – Daniel 3:16-18

We’ve all heard the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. How these 3 Hebrew youths stood for God when no one else would and so God stood with them when no one else could. How they were willing to refuse to obey ungodly authorities that commanded them to disobey the will and word of God. How their faith and determination to take God’s side at all cost set the stage for God to prove Himself real to the faithless many through this faithful few and bring revival to an inter nation.

But today I want to zoom in on the mindset that led to all of this. Let’s examine for a moment what these three youths were really facing. Because when dealing with the enemy, what we see on the surface (in the physical) is only a shadow of what is really there in the spiritual.

You see the Chaldean “accusers of these brethren” on the surface were but envious, power hungry, attention seeking men. But in reality what these boys were really dealing with were demons. Paul himself parallels the Chaldeans with demons in Acts chapter 13. Looking beneath the surface is not something that many modern Christians like to do but Paul boldly called out the demonic that was driving the actions of the physical men that were rising up against him and we would be wise to do the same.

Furthermore, these three boys were not dealing merely with a king, a leader, the man Nebuchadnezzar, but with a principality. The Antichrist spirit that ruled the region through Nebuchadnezzar. You see, though wrapped up in a charismatic worship service full of great music with all manner of instruments, Nebuchadnezzar’s decree that all must worship this image or be killed is a clear character of the Antichrist spirit.

“And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” – Revelation 13:15

Yet while all this was going on, the music, the worship, the idolatry all set up by this wicked principality that everyone in the region bowed in agreement too, these three kids chose to refuse. They risked all knowing that God was able to deliver them but even if He didn’t, they would not compromise and be in agreement with this unrighteousness. Knowing that to refuse to stand against sin is to choose to agree with it, and to agree with it is to endorse it and silence convictions against it.

“If the spirit of the ruler (Principality) rise up against thee, leave not thy place (stand your ground); for yielding pacifieth (justifies) great sinners.” – Ecclesiastes 10:4

Now let’s look pass the surface on the three Hebrew boys side of what happened. What exactly were these demonic powers and Principalities fighting so hard to stop them from doing? Praying. There is nothing that the demonic fears more and thus fights more then a praying people. When you read their story one thing stands out, they were committed to prayer and fasting! They would not compromise, they would not justify the lies of the enemy, and they countered them on their knees calling on a greater authority. This is what the enemy feared, why he hated them and attacked them, but it is also why God Himself stepped in and defended them.

So determine today to start looking past the surface of the men and situations that rise up against you and start seeing the reason that the enemy is angry so you will move in wisdom and know how to defeat him. Pray without ceasing. Stand your ground. Stand for righteousness. Stand for holiness. Stand for God, and He will stand with you no matter what you go through. In the end let it be said of me that I would rather stand in the fire with Jesus, then in the palace with the Chaldeans and the self worshiping antichrist spirit king leading them.

“Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.” – Job 13:15-16

The Door

As I recently sat in Hebrew class listening to the teacher explain the characters in the Hebrew alphabet that spell the word “Adam”, the Holy Spirit began to speak to me of the perfection, simplicity, and complexity of God’s great wisdom all packaged up in this one little word. “Adam”.

You see in the original Hebrew the word “Adam” is spelled with 3 pictographs each having their own origin and meaning that contribute to the story of the whole. You see, the first means “something of great strength” it is also sometimes associated with God or that which is first. The second character represents a door. The third represents that which spreads out, like water does. So that though the sound translates to Adam, the first man, the story of the Pictographs in the name speak of Adam (and thus all mankind) having been created to be the door by which the strength of God’s Spirit would spread across the earth like a river!

It is also no coincidence I think that there are three letters with three meanings that describe the purpose of man’s being considering that we are three part beings, created in the likeness of a three part God. That is to say that God is comprised of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost and in that likeness are we comprised (according to scripture) of a spirit, a soul, and a body. Therefore just like the three letters of the name Adam in Hebrew is our soul (the mind will and emotions) the door by which God’s spirit (character/voice) is able to influence the body so that it can effect and spread out into the physical world.

But there was a problem. There was an other spirit knocking at that door as well and when Adam opened the door to that other spirit, he let sin into the world. Therefore in the same manner that he was suppose to be the door that let God’s spirit (character/fruit) spread through the earth, he instead let the devil and his character begin to be spread into the earth. We now call this “the sin nature”.

“And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door…” – Genesis 4:6-7

Yet where the first Adam failed the second Adam came to redeem and set God’s original plan back in motion. This was spoken of prophetically by Ezekiel when he saw the temple (Jesus’s body), and a river (God’s Spirit), flowing out of it’s door (the blood) into all the world.

“Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” – John 10:7-9

This is why on the day of Pentecost the fire was seen resting upon their heads. So that they would know that they had become the new temple, as the fire only fell upon the temple, and that river of God’s Spirit would now be able to flow out of them into all the world! So now we are back to where Adam was! We are all doors.

“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.” – Psalms 24:7-8

Yet Jesus made one thing very clear about this door. As my dad always told us as kids, the door knob is on the inside, you have to choose to open it to Him. He will not force His way in. He will speak, but we have to open our hearts to Him and what He says. We have to ask Him to come in and teach us, and change us, and lead us. Because though He stands at the door and knocks, so does the enemy of our soul, even as he did for Adam. We have to choose to close the door to him and open it to the Holy Spirit of Jesus. Flesh cannot overcome spirit, Spirit overcomes flesh. We cannot defeat the sin nature by any work of our flesh, we simply were not designed to work that way. We must choose to open the door of our heart to a stronger Spirit (the Lord strong and mighty, the Holy Spirit), so that He will come in and overcome every other spirit, our soul, and our flesh that we might walk in the demonstration of His righteousness, going into all the world as a witness of the overcoming power of the blood of Jesus. Because in the end it comes down to this, He came and became our door, that we might go out and be His.

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” – Revelation 3:20-22

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” – Mark 16:15-18

A Sacrifice of Love

“And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.” – Revelation‬ ‭6:9-11‬ ‭

Many Christians, talking about tribulation and the end times, say that they will be willing to give up their very lives for Jesus, yet when halloween roles around they aren’t even willing to give up candy for Him. Jesus said that to be friends with the world makes you the enemy of God. Likewise to be holy set apart from the world unto God (as God has clearly commanded us to do (1 Peter 1:16) will make you a friend of God and an enemy of the world. This is why Jesus said that if the world hated Him, then it will hate you also if you choose to be among the few who truly follow Him, His instructions, and His example.

Today as I see so many churches and Christians buddying up to the world my heart and mind goes back to those who suffered and died taking a stand against it. Jesus first of all, countless martyrs through history, the persecuted church of today, and those who will one day stand against the full force of the antichrist system now being set in place. When I see the very things they died to free others from (like death, hell, and the grave) being celebrated by the church, it grieves my heart as I feel it grieving the Holy Spirit of God.

“Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my Holy day, and I am profaned among them. Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.” – Ezekiel‬ ‭22:26-27‬

When I see halloween and all it’s demons, death, witchcraft, fear, and everything anti-Christ brought into the church, I’m taken back 2000 years to when Jesus flipped tables and cracked whips for far less. What a sad state the church is in today when those who claim the Name of God, do not know the word or God, nor care for the heart of God; and worse yet, attack those who do calling them legalistic when in reality their obedience is based on love. After all, only true love for an other can overpower love of self and drive a man to willingly sacrifice without contempt, of which Jesus Himself is our example.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” – John‬ ‭14:15‬ ‭

Truly I tell you that in all things it’s comes down to love. You will either choose to sacrifice your love for God on the alter of the world or you will choose to sacrifice your love for the world on the alter of God. Let us love not our lives, will, lust, and world but let us through falling in love with Christ, overcome it in anticipation of a better one to come! This world is not my home and I won’t die for it, I’ll die to it. Jesus is my home, because home is where my heart is and that, I will die for. Money, notoriety, reveling, parties, ungodly friends, lust, candy (in relation to halloween), it doesn’t even register in comparison to my love for Christ, therefor I do not even count it a sacrifice but my reasonable duty as a faithful and loving bride. (Romans 12:1-2)

Relationships are harder to hold together when things are difficult then when they are good. Any relationship not based on selfless love will crumble under pressure. So it’s time to open the Word, get on your knees, get to know the real Jesus, and fall in love with Him. If you won’t stand for Him now when it’s easy, it’s because you don’t really love Him, and you if don’t really love Him, you surely won’t stand for Him later when it’s hard. If you truly believe His words, then it’s time to deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Him.

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” – Revelation‬ ‭12:11‬ ‭

“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” – Revelation‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭

“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible….And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:“ Hebrews‬ ‭11:24-27, 32-36

Jesus‘s Gospel

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” – Matthew‬ ‭7:13-15‬ ‭

The gospel that Jesus preached is the only true gospel. It is the only thing that can save you, deliver you, and empower you. Anything else is what the Bible calls a “damnable heresy” preached to deceive you by the antichrist spirit filled wolves in sheep’s clothing ministering doctrines of demons, or the well meaning misled masses speaking lies and hypocrisies with all deceivableness, void of the truth because they do not know their god.

I say that with a lowercase “g” because Jesus continues this very passage to say that the “many” that take the wide path to hell in this message are people who thought they were saved and serving God but were actually serving the devil by serving a god of their own will and making rather then serving the true God of scripture. Hence the warning to be cautious of wolves in sheep’s clothing who come to deceive you into leaving the narrow road that so few walk to join the masses on the wide path while still be leaving that you are going to heaven when you are actually marching straight to hell while still professing that Jesus is your Lord.

This is not my opinion, this is what Jesus Himself said. This is the real gospel no matter what you’ve been told by anyone else, Jesus’s Words are the truth on which we stand. We MUST believe Him is we claim to believe in the One who sent Him. (That is something that He said also).

So let’s ask ourselves today, is the gospel that you believe, profess, and live, easy? Does it leave you lots of options and wiggle room to do your own will? Is it the gospel that most people believe and follow? Then it’s not the true Gospel, you’re not on the right path, it’s the wide, easy, path of the many that miss heaven while thinking they are saved are on that Jesus warned about.

Jesus said to truly be saved we have to deny ourself, take up our cross, and follow after Him by His very example. We have to do as He did and in all things say “Lord, not my will, but Thy will be done.” We must give up everything that is us to take on everything that is Him. If you haven’t crucified the flesh, given things up, put sin to death, rejected the world, and suffered ridicule, slander, and persecution for the sake of the narrow path then it’s because you are not on it, you are on the wide one, the easy one, the wrong one.

The gospel that Jesus preached is not the popular gospel of the false prophets, the wolves in sheep’s clothing will lead the larger crowd on the wider path straight to Hell. Choose today to come out from among them and be ye separate says the Lord. Choose the narrow path of self denial of your own will, wants, ideas, logic, and desires. Rather replace it with obedience to God’s will in all things and receive the rewards of eternal life and glory in heaven with the Father forever. Don’t believe the lies of false prophets, teachers, and preachers. Jesus said that “many will come in My Name but I never sent them”. The ones He sent will be the ones teaching, preaching, and demonstrating the narrow path. This is the fruit by which you will know them. A Holy root will produce Holy fruit and to be Holy means to be set apart from the world, not like the many, but like the few. So check yourself today and determine, which one are you?

The narrow path is not easy, it is the one that is hated by the world. It is (like Christ) despised and rejected by the greater church most of all. Those many who falsely believe that they are saved who are actually fallowing false prophets on the wide road will always persecute those few who choose to walk the narrow road because their willingness to stay on the straight and narrow at all cost exposes the wide road and those who call you to walk it for what it really is. Therefore, the few that do walk the narrow road will be hated for it. It will cause separation. Friends, family, the world, most will not like you because your very life breathes conviction to their compromise, and exposer to the false teachers lies.

So again I ask you today. Is your Christian walk easy? Is it broadly encompassing of worldly things? Is it based on you surrendering to God’s will everyday, or is it based around allowing you to continue surrendering to your own will? Is it the path that many walk, or is it the one that very few walk? Are you persecuted for it? Is it the gospel that Jesus preached, or are you following another gospel straight to Hell?

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:” – Matthew‬ ‭7:20-24‬ ‭

“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men (even when caused others to oppose, despise, reject, or hate you) him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” – Matthew‬ ‭10:32-39‬ ‭
