Still a God of Power!

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” – 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Paul warns of a deception that would arise in the church in the last days. Having a form of godliness, they claim to belong to Christ but yet they deny the overcoming power of His Name and blood! From such people, Paul warns, turn away! Flee from them! Have no part in it. In fact the word “turn away” is the literal definition of repent. Paul warns that one need repent of being among those that are like this.

The list of previous sins, including unholiness, are things that they are ok with. They teach that you need not (or cannot) be freed from the bondage of sin, removing the limitless power of the true God of scripture (of whom nothing is impossible) for the powerless justification of a god of their own making who is not stronger then the enemy or the sin he binds you in. They preach unbelief and claim it is Christianity when it has no power to set the captive free. It’s a fallacy and Paul said to repent of it and flee from those who teach it.

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might agree with him.” – 2 Corinthians 11:3-4

Jesus said that because the Spirit of God was upon Him, He received powered to set the captive free! Then He died to make a way for that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead to be received by you and me!

The Word says that the Anointing “breaks the yoke” of bondage to the enemy! If there is no yoke breaking power in your church then it’s because Jesus (who is the anointing) is not in it! Flee from it! If there is no yoke breaking power in the god that you serve, then it’s because it is not the real God of scripture who is unchanging! Flee from it! If there is no yoke breaking power in your life then it’s because the yoke breaker is not the Lord of it! Flee from it! Repent of it! Die to it and come alive in Christ by the power of the limitless Holy Spirit!

“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” – Romans 8:11-15

He is still a God of power, if your god is powerless or limited in anyway then it is not the God of the Bible! Come to the Anointed One! Come to salvation, deliverance, and freedom! Come to Jesus! Not just a hollow form of godliness laid down in words that justify peoples emptiness, defeatedness, powerlessness, and sinfulness! But a God of limitless power and demonstration unto the shaming of the limitations of the enemy that has been placed underneath His feet!

“But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.” – 1 Corinthians 4:19-20

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” – Hebrews 11:6

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”- Luke 1:37

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” -Jeremiah 32:27

Jesus has been given all power, authority, and dominion! He has taken the keys (authority) of the kingdom away from Satan and given it to His anointed. Those who truly believe Him, to walk in it! Overcoming victory over the enemy is available to those who truly believe in the real Him. Not in a powerless faithless victory-less form of godliness, but in Jesus! The Son of the Living God! The Holy and Anointed One! The Truth, the Way, and the Life! The overcomer! The Resurrection! The Deliverer! The Savior! The Victor! The real Jesus!

“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” – Revelation 3:21-22

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” – Revelation 12:11

“Nay, in all these things we are more than overcomes through him that loved us.” – Romans 8:37

“To Them…”

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans‬ ‭8:28‬

It was at a very early age, I feel deeply in love with God.

Everything God was, I adored.

Everything He had for me, I wanted.

Every Word He spoke, I was listening.

All things God, His sovereignty, His omnipotence, His love & mercy, even and especially His discipline & chastisement, I learned early to reverence, long for, and respect.

Growing deep into His Word, both spoken in personal quiet time, and His written Word (the Bible), I consumed all…

The more I matured in it over the years, and especially here and now in ministry, the more I began to see many “areas of opportunity” for the church to align completely with HIS Words, not our desires.

It is an unfortunate reality, but so often times we mistakenly see things that make us feel better, without taking it all into proper context. Namely, the conditions His Word lays out for us to obtain such blessing.

This opening scripture is just a “single grain of sand” in the “beach” of examples we can so easily miss and overlook scripturally. Take note of the title of this devotional, as it is to emphasize the nature of the specific audience that “all things will work together” for: to them who love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Does God love and desire the BEST for us? Of course… But those things that make us better spiritually, are the same things that will require our complete surrender of ourselves, or better: To Die. Christian living is not meant to make us “better;” it’s meant to “start completely over”

“Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a NEW creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL things have become new.” – ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” – Luke‬ ‭9:23-24‬

To summarize, we have to take “the good” WITH the “sacrificial” All His promises are true, but they are usually not inclusive, usually they are exclusive. My father-in-law, our senior pastor and overseer, always says to “count the ‘if’s’ in the Bible” Salvation in and of itself is a HUGE example of these “conditional” verses:

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” – Luke‬ ‭13:3‬

FORGIVENESS:

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” – Matthew‬ ‭6:14-15‬

LOVE:

If ye love me, keep my commandments.” – John‬ ‭14:15‬

DISCIPLESHIP:

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;”. – John‬ ‭8:31‬

And there are so many countless examples of this, all throughout the scriptures.

God loves us, yes, and is merciful, but even mercy given to the woman caught in adultery, Jesus’ exhortation revealing the expectation was “Go and sin no more” (John 8:11) God’s mercy and love are designed to lead us to repentance, which leads to everlasting life.

Of course dear reader, you can neverearn” that salvation, but when He freely gives that precious eternal gift by way of grace & faith, we are to walk in the life of sacrifice that holiness would require. (1 Peter 1:16)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me if I have overlooked or misused Your Word. Let me not be presumptuous of Your Word to fit my desires, but may my desire become Your Word!
