The Just Shall Live By His Faith

“Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.” – Habakkuk 2:4

What you truly believe, you will live by. Yet only faith in the words, teachings, and blood of Jesus can save. So if you have faith in those things then you will live by them.

If God has promised you something and you believe it then you will live as though you have already received it. This is what Abraham demonstrated and it was counted unto him for righteousness. He had faith for the land so he went and began planting trees even before it was physically given. His living reflected what he believed in.

When God showed me who my husband would be, I believed him and stopped dating, even before we were together. When God told me that He had a revival for me, I started seeking and preparing messages 3 years before it happened. The Lord has promised children so a few years ago, I got a journal bible to write notes in for them. He has spoken that the youth of our ministry will carry the messages and teachings beyond us all the way to Jerusalem, so I began recording and categorizing our messages for them to glean from in future generations. With these things, the Lord is well pleased and will pour out the grace needed to achieve it, because when one does more then just professes but actually “lives” by “their” faith in what God has said to them, it is counted unto them for righteousness.

“For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” – Romans 4:3

This is why we are justified by faith in Jesus. Everything that He came to teach us and every step that the Holy Spirit leads us is setting us on that narrow path of righteousness that leads to life. Yet Jesus told us that very few actually find it. Why? Because everyone wants to be their own god, like Adam.

Now understand this, that it is not by our works that we receive the promises, but because we have faith for the promises do we live by that faith. We cannot achieve the promises of God, Only He can bring those things about for us. What we do is but a light and small thing that shows that we believe. Abraham was not able to take the land promised to him, only God could deliver that promise by grace. Yet Abraham lived by his faith in that promise by leaving what he knew and walking to were God had called him too. What he did was a light thing that he could achieve which proved that he believed and God was pleased. God counted it for righteousness, and did the rest, the parts that no man can. This was a sacrifice for Abraham but not an impossible task. God will ask of us light things. They may seem sacrificial and difficult but they are actually light afflictions meant only to test us. Live by your faith and do them and He will pour out grace in great measures of glorious fulfillment of His promises.

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

For me to believe what God has spoken to me, that I am setting up the next generation of our ministry to do mighty things even before any sign of it can be seen, requires me to give up immense amounts of time and energy that my flesh and will would rather spend doing other things. If I did what I wanted, and went where I wanted I would make myself my own king and show that my faith was actually in me. But I trust My God’s wisdom and His faithfulness to me. I believe what He has spoken both in scripture and to me personally, so I “live” by what I believe. It shapes my life and actions. It plots my daily course. I seek to press on no matter how hard for the hope that has been set before me. I serve and God to keeps His promises, His covenants do not fail.

All that I have experienced when I stepped out in faith has taught me this. So I know that though I may have to wait to see the majesty of what He is doing, He will do it eventually and entirely above and beyond and more abundantly then anything I could ever hope for or imagine. For it has not even fully entered into the hearts of man, the things that are in store for those who trust Him. So don’t just say that you believe while continuing to be your own king, because the reality is this, you “will” live by “your” faith. Therefore will your life prove you’re faith. This is why the books of remembrance will be opened on judgment day, to see what we really believed. Not only by what we said, but also by how we lived.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven….Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:” – Matthew 7:21, 24

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.” – Luke 6:46-49
