“Now I urge you, brethren , note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctor in which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.” – Romans 16-17
Acceptance, unity, reconciliation – these are all good and godly things to desire and go after, but just like everything else, only in its right place. Acceptance is so heavily encouraged among Christians that we forget that God commands us to avoid an even reject (Titus 3:10-11) certain people. To seek unity with those that the Lord says to reject will place you right next to them in disobedience to the Lord. Rejecting this doesn’t mean that you don’t love them. It means that you love them too much to except and feed into their destructive ways, and you love the Lord too much to disobey Him.
