“We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.” – Hebrews 13:10
In the old covenant, meat sacrifices were brought to the temple and burned on the alter. The priest would receive a portion of this sacrifice to eat and live on because they rarely ever left the temple. They lived there, they worked there, and they worshiped there. Therefor, because forgiveness of sins could only be obtained by way of the priests and sacrifice at this alter in this temple, the lost had to come to them.
However, now that Christ is our sacrifice, the perfect lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, salvation is possible wherever He is. In your bedroom, on the street corner, in the slum, at the store, wherever it is that God meets you with the reality of His saving grace, the blood of His perfect sacrifice can be applied. Furthermore, if we truly have the Holy Spirit of God living on the inside of us, then our very bodies have become His Holy Temple and everyone of us, being the priest of God of the new covenant, bring Him wherever we will go. So will you go?
“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” – Revelation 1:5-6
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” – 1 Peter 2:9-10
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19
Where once the lost had to go to the temple and seek the priest, now the temple goes to the lost and His priest seek the sinner without the camp (church), where they may be found. This was the turning point by which the great commission was given. The moment that God walked out of the temple, into us, and out into the world. So don’t try to keep God within the walls of the church, but rather go ye into all the world and preach the gospel! For every man and women that is truly reconciled to God through Christ is a priest or priestess of God and is the temple of God, therefor it is no longer you that goes but Christ that goes through you! Fulfill your commission and go be a witness wherever you go. A light on a hill can not be hid but shines for all to see, ye are the light of the world because the light of the world lives within you and shines through you. This little light of mine? I’m gonna let it shine. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” – Matthew 28:18-20
“We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” – Hebrews 13:10-16
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” – Mark 16:15-18
Though the scriptures are clear that we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together, the church was meant to be a hospital for the lost, sick, and desperate, not a prison for the saved. If we are called to be ambassadors for Christ then the Church is meant to be an embassy for the Kingdom of Heaven in the midst of a foreign land where we can go to be helped, mended, briefed, equipped, given orders, and sent out to accomplish the will of our King in this land! Which is to share the good news that Jesus has won the keys to the kingdom and liberate the captive unto freedom in His Name! The true Church is here to build the undivided Kingdom of God, not to build kingdoms for men. Woe to the pastor that usurps God, His Kingdom, and His great commission for the sake of his own. Go out, reach them, save them, train them, and send them back out to do the same. They are God’s flock, not yours.
“Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks? Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.” – Ezekiel 34:2-4
Ask yourself today, “why would you want to be part of your own story, when you can be part of HiStory?”
Prayer: God here am I, send me! Purify me with your blood and make me Holy that I might carry Your Holy Spirit into an unholy world and shine the pure light of your glory in the midst of the darkness and show the lost the way out, the way to You!
