“And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” – Ephesians 6:19-20 (KJV)
The apostle Paul exhorts the church of Ephesus in a manner that would be compared to the pep-talk before a great battle is about to begin! In this passage, he speaks of our spiritual warefare: Taking on the whole armor of God, praying in supplication and the Spirit as well! I absolutely LOVE how he also highlights boldness in this chapter saying,
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” -Ephesians 6:10 (KJV)
You see first of all, it is vitally important that we don’t confuse holy boldness with “arrogance.” That’s not what Paul was referring to. We have to understand that when God touches you, changes you, delivers you, there is such a zeal unto the spirit that makes you a bold, strong, force against the powers of darkness in this world! It’s not arrogant to proclaim the truth of the Lord’s Gospel of Good News! You see, when I was delivered of drug addictions by the power of God’s grace that I’ve fought with for years on my own, I HAD TO SHARE the POWER of our God! Paul also speaks of this Biblical holy boldness in this respect:
“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”- Romans 4:20-21 (KJV)
As Christians, it’s easy to sit at the side-lines with our hands in our pockets for fear of offending someone, but we have to be more aggressive in the prayer closet. Be more sacrificial in our call to fast. Be more intentional about sharing our faith in the market place.
“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” -Proverbs 28:1 (KJV)
Today I feel the Lord exhorting is all to take up arms in the spirit, and “fight the good fight of faith!” Souls hang in the balance, and we dare not be sluggish in our great commission to wins souls for the Kingdom!
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” -Mark 16:15-20 (KJV)
What a declaration from our savior that affords us this authority to bring the power of Jesus Christ in signs and wonders to the world! Not only do we see the delegation of this spiritual authority, but we see a simple word called, “Preach” which means “to proclaim”!
“Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.” -Acts 28:31 (KJV)
“According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.” -Ephesians 3:11-13 (KJV)
“And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” -Acts 4:31 (KJV)
“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” -Acts 4:13 (KJV)
Today, if you know the Lord has saved you, delivered you, and/or healed you, I challenge you today: Pray for God to open the door to boldly proclaim the truth of your testimony in love to those around you unashamedly so those that hear it may also be stirred in their faith to surrender to Jesus just as you did!
