“These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” – Matthew 10:5-8
Truly God desires to evangelize the world, but His first attention is always focused at home in His own house. For the early disciples that was Israel, for the modern Christian, it’s the church. Jesus commissions us to go out preaching the truth, cast out devils, heal the sick, and raise the dead, but just as He instructed His early disciples, it needs to start in the house of God. After all, does it really pay to go out and heal the world only to bring them into a sick church?
The greatest mission field in the world resides under the steeple, in churches devoid of truth, conviction, repentance, weeping, fasting, deliverance, prayer and power. It is also the most urgent of all mission fields because God has clearly warned that “judgment begins at the house of God“.
Start winning the churches back to the true God of the Bible and the undefiled, uncompromised, uncommercialized, truth of the entirety of every jot and tittle of His Holy Word, and the churches will win the world as God backs up His perfect truth and will with power. Remember, God only sends miracles to validate the message. So if you are willing to preach truth in obedience with no selfish ambition or agenda, seeking only to build God’s Kingdom and not your own, then He will back that truth up with power from on high. Only don’t be surprised if the first place He sends you in to cast out devils, heal the sick, and raise the dead is the church.
“And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power. And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.” – Luke 4:32-37
