“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” – James 1:21-22
Being doers of the word. In Luke 8 Jesus tells the parable of the sower, how some seed fell on the wayside, upon a rock, among thorns, and on good ground. The good ground is the only one that produced good fruit.
“But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” – Luke 8:15
And a little further in verse 21, He says:
“And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.” – Luke 8:21
Jesus really made it clear, that we must be doers of the word.
“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” – James 2:19-20
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” – Galatians 6:7-9
