“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” – Psalms 28:7
There are few tools in the arsenal of God’s Kingdom that is as powerful as Praise! Praise has a threefold effect. On the one hand it expresses your love and appreciation to God for all that He is and does. This blesses the heart of God and increases His favor toward you. However, it also serves to remind us of His great love and faithfulness toward us, increasing our love for Him. Like bestowing selfless gifts, attention, and praise upon a dear loved one, we are blessed by how much it blesses Him and the love grows stronger both ways. Then there is the third effect that praise offers unintentionally, almost as a side effect, that few realize but would serve to bring them all the more joy if they did.
You see, Satan’s pride, hatred, and jealousy toward God has burned unmatched and unquenched since his fall. From the beginning he has desired more then anything to be praised as God is, and to steal the praises of God’s people away from Him. Therefor when we praise God, it also serves to jeer Satan, and he can’t stand it! Satan will not stay in the presence of a true selfless praising of God! He loathes it so, that He can’t help but flee from it. This is why there is such power in praise unto breakthrough and victory in otherwise impossible battles. Praise God in the face of your enemy knowing that both your mighty God is being praised, and the devil is being mocked by the same action! This will cause faith, love, and joy to swell up within you as God is magnified and the devil is diminished! Hence, a threefold victory and blessing! God is being blessed, you are being blessed, and the devil is being mocked as all his efforts are brought to naught!
Remember that God literally inhabits the praises of His people! So if you want to spend time with God, getting to know Him, hearing from Him, and falling in love with Him, then praise Him! When we truly praise God (not ourselves, our talents, our performances, or our own fleshly desires or wants) but truly, selflessly, exclusively Praise Him, He will come down to receive it and will inhabit that atmosphere of praise bringing hope, joy, deliverance, power, salvation, healing, majesty, and might with Him! When God walks into a situation everything changes, because though God Himself never changes, everything He touches, does!
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance (presence).” – Psalms 42:5
“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” – Psalms 22:3
