“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:” – Matthew 7:22-24
I find this passage very intriguing in that all too often people look at gifts as an evidence of ones salvation or right standing with God, yet Jesus Himself told us not to do this. Gifts, signs, wonders, and miracles can all be counterfeited by Satan. In fact, scripture warns us that the spirit of anti-Christ moves in miracles, signs, and “lying” wonders (2 Thesolonians 2:9). Yet the one thing the devil can’t copy is a Holy life, that’s why Jesus told us to judge them by their fruits (Matthew 7:20).
The only evidence that God deems worthy to judge a persons right standing with Him is not their gifts, their popularity, or even their perceived power as all of these can come from the devil just as easily as they come from God (much more so actually), but their fruits only. Be it good fruit or bad, the wise will judge you by it, but more importantly, when you stand before God on the day of judgement, He Himself will judge you by it.
“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” – Revelation 20:12
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” – Matthew 7:24-27
How you live matters. Obedience to the word and will of God is key. You cannot claim to be a servant of God while doing Him the disservice of disobedience. You may have a form of godliness but if you deny the power there of to walk in obedience unto righteousness the Lord will have no part with you. Why should light have part with darkness? Why should faithfulness have part with rebellion? Why should His will be subject to yours? He paid a very high price to purchase you from the enemy, you’re service is the reward of His sacrifice, not the other way around. Do not do disgrace unto the price of His suffering by choosing to go back to serve the enemy He paid such a high price to purchase you from. I tell you a truth that you will obey God’s will or you will work the Devil’s will. You’re free will only grants you the option to choose between those two. If you are not being obedient to God’s will and plan, you are serving Satan’s whether you realize it or not. So if you have in your heart desired an audience before you have acquired obedience, lay aside all your wants and plans, seek the Lord for His, and wait upon Him as He reminds you that this is all for His Glory, not yours. Humble yourself, repent, and commit to submit.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” – Matthew 7:21
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
