Becoming Part Of His Story

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:1-2

In the Old Testament we offered dead sacrifices, but now we offer living ones. When we truly serve God our daily lives become a living sacrifice unto God. We lay aside vain desires and crucify the flesh daily to walk in obedience to the Word and Will of God, not out of obligation, but out of adoration.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God’s plans for us are good, and are for our good. Romans 8:28 tells us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called “according to His purpose”. Even the bad things will work out for our good when we trust and obey Him. Why? Because as our opening passage states, His will is perfect. Therefore, when we sacrifice our self will, our fleshly desires, our preconceived notions, our carnal knowledge, our pride, and our plans, we get a much better one, we get His. We trade our limits, failures, and frailties for His omnipotence, faithfulness, and power. We become part of a story far greater then anything we could have ever obtained or even planned for on our own. We become part of something historic because History is His story.

So choose today to lay your life down that you might find it more abundantly in Christ. Lay down your tiny plan for His unimaginable plan in all its awe inspiring glory. Crucify your flesh, die to self, offer your life as a living sacrifice of humble obedience and see what God can do that you never could.

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” – 1 Corinthians 2:9

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” – Luke 9:23-24

Sadly, this is so rarely proven because so few truly sacrifice their will, desires, plans, and life for God’s. Yet the few that do, shape History, because as I said before it is, after all, His story. So choose today to be part of His story, not your own.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:1-2
