“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” – John 16:13-14
The most dangerous thing for a Christian or minister is not knowing that you don’t know anything. You only know what the Holy Spirit tells you because all truth comes from the Spirit of God. Therefore, if you know that you don’t know anything in and of yourself you will know to seek God for truth, wisdom, direction, and correction, and you will trust what He shows you more then you trust yourself, your logic, your desires, or the influence of others. Remember that even Salomon, recorded as the wisest man in history, had to ask for this wisdom from the Lord in 2 Chronicles chapter 1, and to do that he had to first come to the realization and acknowledge that he had no wisdom in and of himself, but rather needed to be granted it from the source of all true wisdom and truth.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” – James 1:5
Never trust what you think you know, for there is a spirit of error in the world that opposes the spirit of truth (Holy Spirit) and works through your pride against every plan and desire of God for your life and eternal soul. Be not deceived, you don’t know anything and if you think you do then the spirit of error (1 John 4:6) has fluffed your pride so that you will believe what he has put in your head is your own and has caused you to think that there is no need to seek the Lord’s Will or Wisdom. Yet those that fear the Lord, that fear displeasing Him, and that reverence His deity over their own illusions of grander will know that they can be deceived, will seek the Lord’s wisdom, and will therefore walk in wisdom. (Not their own wisdom, but the Lord’s wisdom, for their only wisdom is knowing that they have no wisdom but to seek the Lord for His wisdom and trust in it no matter what. This, and this alone will cause them to walk in true wisdom.) This is why “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Psalms 111:10)“. If you think that you don’t need to seek the Lord on any issue, you have already been deceived.
“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,” – Romans 1:21-22
