“He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me. The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God. For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them. I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity. Therefore the Lord hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.” – 2 Samuel 22:20-25
Believe it or not, the Lord is still a rewarder of righteousness. At times it may seem like the more you do what’s right the more things go wrong, but this is simply because you are making the enemy mad and becoming the target of his furious attacks. However, though God may allow us to go through trials for the strengthening and perfecting of our faith, He will not let us be overcome, but rather cause us to overcome for He has already afforded us the victory. (Romans 12:21, 1 John 4:4, 1 John 5:4, Romans 8:37, Revelations 13:7) So understand that the only way we can loose to the enemy is to give up and give in, yet if we don’t quit we will win and be rewarded.
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” – Galatians 6:9
Scripture tells us that God delights in giving good gifts to His Children (Matthew 7:11), yet reminds us that it rains on the just and the unjust alike (Matthew 5:45). This is because the rain, though unpleasant for a season, is necessary for growth. Therefor we must all weather the storms but the righteous will not be over taken for “the Name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10) and once the rains have passed they shall reap the rewards of growth and a great harvest.
“Evil pursueth sinners: but the righteous shall be rewarded.” – Proverbs 13:21
We know that the bible clearly states many times that God will reward all men according to their works on the day of judgment, either for good unto eternal reward or for evil unto eternal damnation. However, know that God rewards those who choose to walk in right standing (or righteousness) with Him here in this life also. He rewards them with his trust granting them greater giftings and ministry, with provision, with answered prayers, with spiritual growth, and with a greater measure of grace, which is both God’s favor and His power. This is why James 5:16 tells us that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Therefore, if you want your prayers to be effectual, calling forth miracles, salvations, deliverances, and blessings, the key is to walk in righteousness that you may in-turn, kneel in power!
“The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.” – Proverbs 15:29
So never give up your righteousness (or right standing with God) for the temptations of temporary sins at the cost of your eternal rewards. Don’t allow the enemy to weary you into giving up right before you’re prayer is answered. Know that the enemy always fights the hardest right before your breakthrough and blessing comes because he is trying with all his might to cause you to fall that he might keep you from receiving the rewards of righteousness. Know the tactic, resist the enemy, and stand your ground. If you don’t quit, you will surely win and be rewarded. Trust that God’s ways are good and just and never without cause or purpose, endure to the end and you shall shall reap the reward, for it is by faith alone that we receive grace, and it is by God’s grace alone that we are empowered to walk in righteousness and receive the rewards of righteousness. So believe!
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him” – Hebrews 11:6
“The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.” – Proverbs 11:18
