It Won’t Be Easy, But It Will Be Worth It, Endure

prayerdfsdf“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” – 2 Timothy 3:12-17

When examining scripture, one word can make “all” the difference. In the above text, I want you to notice the word “all“. In the first verse of this passage we read that “all” who live Godly in Christ will suffer persecution of some form or degree. I often say that the only people who never come face to face with the devil are those already at his side. If you are truly living for God then you will (by default) follow His commandments (John 14:15), if you follow His commandments then you will (by default) do His work (Matthew 10:8), and if you do His work then you will (by default) make the devil really mad (Mark 13:13).

Being a true biblical Christian by default makes you a great threat to the devil and his kingdom. Therefore, “all” that live Godly will suffer trials, hardships, and persecutions for their faith and obedience. If you have never suffered for serving Christ then you may want to examine rather or not you are truly a Christian living Godly in Christ, as this verse states. Though the degree to which you will suffer differs from person to person and situation to situation, the fact that to truly serve God you will have to face some unpleasant resistance from the enemy will not. We “all” must endure for the sake of the cross. Though the cost is great, the reward is grater.

“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.” – 1 Peter 4:12-14

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” – Romans 8:16-18

Though the devil will try and press you, endure for God is with you, knowing that “He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Stand strong in The Lord against all resistance and persecution, holding the truth of God’s Word in your heart, mind, and mouth no matter the cost. I would rather that I be a pleaser of God, who is able to reward eternally, then of devils and men who’s pleasure is but for a season.

“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.” – Hebrews 11:24-26

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
