“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” – Romans 10:14
The world would tell us that tolerance is love and speaking the truth of God is hate, bitterness, disrespect, disunity, and disorder. Nothing could be further from the truth. The bible tells us that “Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” (Proverbs 27:5-6) In other words, it is better to be rebuked when you need it, even if it hurts or offends you deeply, then to be flattered with deceit and lies. Furthermore these verses identify the one rebuking as your true friend and the ones flattering as your enemy, and a very dangerous one at that.
The truth is that there is, and always has been, a push to silence Christians because the devil knows that faith comes by hearing, correction comes by hearing, conviction comes by hearing, and therefore salvation comes by way of hearing. The devil knows what works, he knows God’s commandments and plan of salvation. He knows that without the laws and commandments of God being placed before men they will never see the desperate state their sin has placed them in and their dire need for a savior. This is why the book of James tells us that the law is a mirror that causes man to see how dirtied with sin he really is. Yet most times, in order for them to see this, someone has to hold that mirror up in front of them and say, “look”.
The facts of the matter are this, to speak the truth of God in hopes of saving a soul from eternal damnation and hells fire, or even bringing rebuke to correct the path of one who is going or being led astray at the risk of hurt or hardship to yourself is love, true love, God’s love. Allowing someone to walk in sin or deceit uninformed of the dangers of the error of their ways is not love, tolerance, or unity but selfishness, and more then that, it’s disobedience to God. It is done only to please man (and thus the devil that is deceiving them), sparing oneself the discomfort of not being praised, liked, or excepted by your peers and the world in general. Jesus never tolerated sin, deceit, or error without shining the light of truth on it and exposing it for what it was, no matter the cost. So if Jesus is God (John 10:30), and God is love (1 John 4:8), then by this we know that… Love won’t stay silent.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15
“So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” – Romans 1:15-17
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17
Know that if faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God and you allow the world to take away the Word of God out of your mouth, then I assure you they will take it out of your hands next and out of your heart after that. If we choose to stay silent and not preach the truth of God’s Word to every creature as God has commanded us to do, then the next step will be to silence the very Bible itself. I tell you this emphatically, use it or loose it.
“For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet, Until her righteousness goes forth like brightness, And her salvation like a lamp that is burning” – Isaiah 62:1
