We all go through hard times in this life. It rains on the just and the unjust alike. (Matthew 5:45) We know that God is able to stop those rains, and sometimes He does, but sometimes the rains are necessary for watering and growth. In those times He chooses to be our shelter in the midst of the storms. Sometimes, the storms come to blow the chaff that we’ve been holding on to out of our lives, or to purge and wash us. In those cases He is our encouragement and strength in the storm. Sometimes we find ourselves caught in the rain because we didn’t listen when He told us how to avoid it. In those cases He is our instruction and correction as we either weather the storm or seek Him for the quickest way to rectify our mistake. Whatever the cause, the simple fact is that we are going to find ourselves caught in the rains of this life at times and no matter what the cause for our being there, there are lessons to be learned and experience to be gained that we might help ease others time in the storms or even help them escape them all together. These experiences build our understanding and faith, which in turn, builds our patients, brings us and others comfort, and enforces our hope.
“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:” – Romans 5:3-4
Then there are those times when we’ve done everything right and in doing so, seem to have angered the devil, because all of hell starts rising up against you, everything that can go wrong does, and everyone that can attack you has. In those moments when the enemy is fighting so hard trying to discourage you, rejoice. Know that the only people who never come face to face with the devil are those already at his side. Stop and remember that you had problems, heartache, and suffering when you were in the world also, only now you have hope, love, and the strength of God at your side to help you through it. There’s no point in turning back, the trials and hardships will still be there, only you will be facing them for nothing.
“For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:” – 1 Peter 3:17-18
No situation, trial, or even mistake is without value as long as you do not give up and succumb to it, but rather learn from it. Experience gained is faith built. Rather it be experience in knowing that God will not leave you are forsake you, that He will overcome, that no matter what it looks like or feels like in the moment He is for you and has your best interest at heart, or the importance in seeking, listening, and obeying His every Word and instruction, experience gained is faith build and the faith of one can bring comfort to all.
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-7
Stay the course, be the one that endures and stands steadfast through all the attacks, trials, and tribulations, so that others seeing, might have their faith strengthened and stand also. It takes one… be the one.
