God Is Faithful To His Promises, All Of Them

We serve a good God, a powerful God, a faithful God. Our God can not lie, if He said it He will surely do it. (Numbers 23:19) However, because of this, we have to understand that He is just as faithful to honor the conditions He has set out for us as the promises that result from those conditions.

Each condition in scripture results in two promises, one listed and one implied. For example, Jeremiah 29:11, a commonly quoted verse states that God has a plan for you, a good plan for a good future. However, if you read the context around the verse you see that it was spoken to a people in much trial and hardship. They were in captivity in a strange land, subject to their enemies and much suffering. The promise given here, though true, was not without condition. The verses that follow explain that this will happen when, and only when, they call out to God, pray, seek Him, and search for Him with all their hearts. They must lay all idols, pride, and fear of ridicule or persecution aside and pursue God with their whole hearts, then He will deliver them so that they are free to enjoy the plans and future that God has for them. If they don’t do these things then they would not receive the promise, but rather the implied promise of continued captivity. In other words, they were told that if they wanted to be delivered they had to want their Deliverer.

God will always honor His Promises in a way that is faithful and just. Remembering that He rewards good for good, but also evil for evil. Know that He is faithful to deliver us from our enemies (Exodus 14:14), to provide for our every need (Philippians 4:19), to save those of our household (Acts 16:31), and to fulfill every Word He has spoken to us and over us (Ezekiel 12:25), as long as we are faithful to meet the conditions which usually come down to this; believe on Him, love and pursue Him with your whole heart, and keep His commandments.
